The RELC Conference is a biennial gathering of residential environmental education center directors, program directors, and program coordinators.

When: Friday, January 16 – Tuesday, January 20, 2015.
Check-in begins at 4:30pm Friday.

I will need transportation to and from the airport. Transportation to PEEC will be provided on Friday (1/16) at 2:00 & 4:00pm and on Saturday (1/17) at 12:00pm from Newark airport. I will be using the overnight accommodations at PEEC. Lodging consists of shared sleeping spaces, dormitory style, with shared, modern bathroom facilities. Linens will be provided for guests. I will make other arrangements for housing during the conference. I understand the registration fee is not reduced for those not staying on campus.

Be a part of this unique, week-long camp designed for aspiring scientists like you! The Sci-Q Project will be held from June 27-July 3, 2021 at the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.

Students will interact with local college professors, hand-picked for their fun, approachable nature, as they showcase their research in a variety of fascinating fields. They'll also share their personal stories about the challenges and rewards of becoming scientists.

It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will give you a definite edge in this exciting career path. The program is limited to just 20 talented students who will be entering grades 8-10 in the fall of 2021.  

The 2021 Sci-Q Project is funded by grants and donations. Each student who is accepted is asked to pay only a nominal fee ($75.00) to participate in the program, while the balance of the tuition, room, and board will be covered.

Camperships (Financial Assistance)

Camperships can help offset the cost of our camp program for up to two weeks and are given on a first-come, first-serve basis. Funding for camperships is provided by the Heather Rosborough Fund, the Biondo Family Foundation, and Buck-a-Book donations.

To apply for a campership, submit the following documents to PEEC:

  • A letter explaining the financial need of your family
  • A list of which sessions you’d like to send your child to camp
  • OptionalA copy of your National School Lunch Program (NSLP) eligibility letter (Determine eligibility here using chart on second page of document)

After PEEC receives the items listed above, you will be contacted about your family’s eligibility. Unfortunately, PEEC cannot guarantee, confirm or hold spaces for campers until a registration form and deposit are received.

Financial aid may cover up to 50% of a camper's tuition for up to two weeks.

Merit Based Camperships for Residential Camp

PEEC will award merit-based camperships to attend residential camp programs to those who show interest in environmental education, sustainable living, and an appreciation for nature. These camperships can cover up to 50% ($375) of a residential program. 


To be eligible, potential campers must submit a typed essay describing 1) why attending a week of residential camp at PEEC is important to them and 2) how they incorporate environmental education, sustainable living, and/or an appreciation for nature into their lives in the past, the present and/or potentially the future.

Essays must be typed and 400-500 words (usually about 2-3 pages double spaced) and submitted as a Microsoft Word document or PDF.  Qualified campers will be entering grades 5 through 10 in the fall of 2020 and must write the essay themselves. One entry per camper.

  • Full name of camper and grade they will be entering in the fall of 2020
  • Parent(s)’ name, email, address, and phone number where they can be reached
  • Letter from Camper expressing interest in attending residential week of camp and why as Word document or PDF

    • Letter form Parent expressing financial need
    • Copy of National School Lunch eligibility letter or SNAP benefits


Campers must be registered with deposit by June 12th, 2020

Other details:

  • Essays will be judged based on sincere or meaningful discussion of the impact of PEEC’s camp and its mission.
  • Recipients will be notified on June 15 via email of awarded funding and have until June 26th to confirm acceptance of funding.

A Great Resource for Homeschool Families

Pocono Environmental Education Center offers a variety of classes and can tailor them to multiple age groups. Our classes are designed for groups of 15 participates, this includes adults and children as part of the class.  Minimum group size is 10 participates. At PEEC, homeschooled students can learn and have fun with classes such as team building, orienteering, interpretive hikes, canoeing, hands-on ecology classes, and more. Hands-On Field Study – Classes meet science requirements for PA, NY, & NJ. We offer these programs October through March. 

Ages 3 and younger: 

Ø  1 hour of programming (average 4-5 activities).  

Ø  $10 for one child and one adult. Maximum group size is 7 adults and 7 children.

Ø  *Complimentary play room is available for ages 3 and younger with scheduling of any older age group programming. (Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.)*

Ages 4 to 6 years old: 

Ø  1.5 hours of programming (average 4-6 activities).  

Ø  $10 for one child. Maximum group size of 10 children.

Ø  First adult chaperone free, $5 for each additional adult up to 5 total.

 Ages 7 to 9 years old:

Ø  1.5 hour of programming (activities vary with class selection).

Ø  $10 per child with maximum of 12 children.

Ø  First adult chaperone free,  $5 per additional adult up to 3 total. 

Ages 10 to 13 years old: 

Ø  1.5 hours of programming (activities vary with class selection).  

Ø  $10 per child with maximum of 14 students. 

Ø  First adult free, $5 per additional adult up 3 total.

Ø  *This age range is eligible for low ropes, team building and canoeing*

PEEC is an ideal place for academic programs, team building, family programs, scouts, retreats, conferences, and workshops.  Individualized programs are designed by PEEC staff to meet each group’s specific needs.  Facilities are available year-round and are designed for individuals and groups of all sizes.
