PEEC Announces Summer Nature Treks
Lehmans Township, Dingmans Ferry, PA – The Pocono Environmental Education Center in Dingmans Ferry, PA announces their 2005 Nature Trek schedule. Bring a group of friends or come by yourself and join fellow nature lovers in exploring the natural wonders of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Each nature trek has a different theme and will offer an educational "PEEC" into nature. Contact PEEC for more information or to register at (570) 828-2319 or by email at peec@ptd.net. Nature Treks are $3 for members and $5 for non-members unless otherwise indicated. Limit 13 people when transportation provided. Winter Weather Safety

This lecture covers common-sense ground rules for winter survival, and provides hands-on materials. This is not a survival skills-class, but it is a word to the wise about precautions and safety measures, concerning travel in the winter out-of-doors.

Winter Tracking Treks

Learn about the world around you and the animals in it through sign and track interpretation. Wear snowshoes or high boots.

Call it Scat!

Learn to study animal scat to understand animal behavior and diet. Essential technique for naturalists, hunters and others.

PEEC is a nonprofit center whose purpose is to advance environmental awareness through education. Located in Dingmans Ferry, PA, in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, PEEC is one of the most respected residential environmental centers in the United States, and offers a wide variety of programs to the public. For more information about programs, call or visit the PEEC facilities. The center is located off Route 209, five miles south of the junction with Route 739, Or eight miles north of Bushkill, PA. Walk the winter woods during a full moon. The stillness will only be interrupted by the sounds of your footsteps, or maybe an animal calling. 

Equinox Walk: Big Egypt Mills

This casual 2.5 mile stroll follows a dirt road alongside swamps, ponds, and lakes. Come visit this lesser known scenic area.

Climb the Cliffs
June 27, 2007

The towering shale cliff that runs between Raymondskill Falls and Milford provides the best vistas of the Delaware Valley . This walk is 1/2 mile up hill, and 2 miles of level terrain. Not for those with a fear of heights. Bring water and binoculars.

Adams Creek Hike

This is a 3 mile return hike to a series of impressive waterfalls carvings deep through shale formations. This hike is another hidden secret of the Poconos! Bring plenty of water, snacks and shoes that can get wet.

Moonwalk

The quiet woods are the perfect place to be on a moonlit night. Listen for owls, study the stars and try a solo portion of the trail.

Survival Treks

Learn old and new survival skills. Design various shelters, build fires, and simple tools with a winter focus. Bring a bag lunch.

Summer Survivor Trek

A hands-on class that will show you how to escape the sizzling heat of the summer, and prevent moisture loss and heat exhaustion!
