General Information
The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC), located within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DEWA), is a special place for students, teachers, families, Scouts, birders, botanists, photographers, hikers, and everyone else interested in learning about the natural world in a beautiful and informal setting.

The study of nature and natural systems is our focus at PEEC, our proximity to a quarter of a million acres of public lands, including the National Recreation Area and numerous state parks, forests, and game lands offers a world of opportunities to explore:

  • Shady Hemlock gorges
  • The wild and scenic Delaware River
  • Diverse lowland and upland forests
  • Fields blooming with wildflowers
  • Rushing waterfalls and streams
  • Unique flora and fauna of boreal bogs
  • Fossils as old as 400 million years
  • Ponds teeming with insect and amphibian life.
Facilities
The Visitor Education and Administration Building Center is the hub of activity at PEEC. The building houses two classrooms, a library, craft center, darkroom, store, indoor pool, offices, educational displays, and meeting areas for presentations and dances.
Outdoor Resources
Thirteen miles of hiking trails originate from PEEC's campus. Depending on the season, program participants may canoe on PEEC's ponds or cross-country ski through towering pine forests. There are also courses available for low ropes, A.S.E. group initiatives, orienteering, sensory awareness, as well as several picnic areas and campfire sites along with an Education Trailer and Log Cabin. Housing
Guests are housed in PEEC's forty-seven cabins which can comfortably sleep from two to sixteen people on wooden bunk beds. Cabins are heated, have electricity, showers, and modern bathroom facilities.
Meals
Meals are prepared by professional food service staff and served buffet style in the Dining Hall. Special dietary needs may be addressed with advance notice.
